Staff Environmental Engineer with Arcadis U.S., Inc. (Phoenix, AZ) Research, design, plan, or perform engineering duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards using various engineering disciplines.

Work may include waste treatment, site remediation, or pollution control technology. Coordinate with laboratory and contractors for ongoing and planned work. Prepare technical reports and memoranda as deliverables for clients and regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal level, including a summary of the site background; a summary of field activities; analytical laboratory results of vapor, groundwater, soil, and waste samples; tables detailing field conditions, laboratory data, and statistical data analyses; figures detailing field conditions, laboratory data, statistical analysis results, and trends; conclusions; and recommendations.

Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair environmental remediation systems, sensors, operation units (tanks, pumps, adsorbers, air strippers, blowers, etc.), piping, valves, and filters. Collect groundwater, surface water, soil, vapor, and ambient air samples per standard operating procedures and analytical best practices.

Assist Project Managers with field scheduling and logistics, needed staff resources, outside costs, client budgets, client deliverables, and financials to prepare invoices. Train new staff and recent hires for safe and efficient field work using Arcadis best practices and client-specific operational excellence policies. Take engineering decisions regarding scope of work and/or design, based on field conditions, Agency- or clientled changes in scope, and/or economic feasibility.

Prepare sampling and analysis plans as deliverables for clients and regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal level, including sampling rationale, sampling locations and counts, sampling frequency, analytical methods, field methodology and modifications based on specific site conditions and/or regulatory framework, and established quality assurance/quality control protocols. Prepare quality assurance project plans as deliverables for clients and regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal level, including outlining project responsibilities; analytical methodology limits, precision and accuracy capabilities, and quality assurance protocols; subcontractor roles, responsibilities, and protocols; sampling programs for every applicable matrix (ie, groundwater, soil, soil vapor, process vapor, etc.); data validation, storage, and analysis protocols; and field protocols, documentation, and modifications.

Oversee remediation systems installation, upgrades, and repairs by executing engineering plans, leading field staff, and communicating between project management, design engineers, and field crews. This position allows for remote work and reports to the company's office in Phoenix, AZ. Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Position requires related experience (3 years with Bachelor's or 1 year with Master's), which must include some experience in each of the following skills: Wet sample collection; Gas sample collection; Chemical characterization analytical techniques (chromatography, spectrophotometry, etc.); Statistical data analysis: DoE, ANOVA; MS Excel tools (conditional formatting, data validation, statistics, LOOKUP); Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document development; Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD, ChemCAD, Simulink, LabView); Chemical reactor troubleshooting, testing, and operating; Familiarity with quality assurance project plans, sampling and analysis plans, USEPA data quality objectives process, and laboratory analytical methods (wet, solid, and liquid chemistry); and Familiarity with regulatory framework, policies, best practices, and risk-based screening and data analysis.
