Overview

Gray Solutions is hiring a Senior Robotics Engineer II to support our Advanced Automation team. This team is responsible for the development and execution of our advanced automation projects - solving our customers' challenges with automation technologies including cobots, robotics, vision systems, AGVs, AMRs, and other emerging technologies.

Ideal candidates will have experience working with Robotic system applications and associated software in the Automated Packaging space. This would include high speed picking, packing and palletizing applications. Experience in the deployment of 2D and/or 3D Machine Vision systems is a plus. This would include a high level of competency and experience within these multiple technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement Robotic based automation systems for our industry-leading customers.
  • Ability to manage industrial projects from design through commissioning using current technology.
  • Support and/or develop PLC and HMI programs of a given work cell to support the overall project completion.
  • Ability to interface and integrate machine vision solutions with some oversite by vision engineers.
  • Participate in proposals and estimates for projects, including leading research and analysis based on customer requests, specifications, or other information to assist in pre-project planning.
  • Design automation systems based on provided solution descriptions, joint-design sessions with partners and/or customers, the analysis of existing operations, or other means to develop a functional design.
  • Lead development of a well-documented and flexible robotic program in a standard programming language.
  • Design and develop HMIs that are professional-looking with a simple common navigation structure. Mentor other team members on approach and standards.
  • Ensure successful projects by working with or overseeing other team members, partners, or customers as needed in design and development responsibilities.
  • Lead development of solutions to support testing and commissioning activities as required by customers and partners.
  • Maintain close relationships with our customers to understand their opportunities and ensure they understand Gray Solutions' capabilities.
  • Provide on-site commissioning support and customer training as required, including the supervision of other team members and partners.
  • Responsible for the communication, implementation, and enforcement of our safety program on-site.
  • Responsible for developing the technical skills of other team members, potential to include direct supervision or management of team members.
  • Establish strong cross-functional relationships between the customer and all engineering/project team disciplines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a degree in engineering or related relevant experience in factory automation.
  • 5-7 years of demonstrated professional work experience .
  • Travel is a regular expectation of this role and depends upon the location of projects and customers, the stage of project execution, and your role in the project. Travel may also be required for annual company meetings and some training
  • Project-based travel to customer sites and team check-ins can range 15-25% during the design phase, 0-10% during the implementation phase, and 40-75% during installation and commissioning phases.
