Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer Contract position 40 hours weekly onsite, 6+ months ELECTRO-MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, responsible for the design and development of new/revised electro-mechanical products, keypad assemblies, molded plastic and metal casting products, cable assemblies including Kapton cable assemblies, etc. Company has a large and varied custom designed product mix.

Responsible for customer product drawings, tooling drawings, artwork packages and supporting documentation to respond to the sales function and meet production needs. DUTIES Perform engineering design layout, and detailed drawings based on quotation information received from sales utilizing CAD and/or graphics design software. Review Engineering Work Orders and customer provided documentation for accuracy, consult with customer and/or NEK Sales/Engineering groups on any discrepancies.

Develop accurate Bill of Materials and enter into ERP system for all designed products. Articulate with purchasing dept on quotes from toolmakers, and order tools based on the most cost-effective vendor. Ability to learn quickly and be able to generate membrane circuit and graphic art works for membrane switches used for military and multi-industrial commercial applications.

Assists/conducts the Engineering Design Release meetings to communicate and distribute the appropriate documentation to the Manufacturing, Production, Screen Printing, Quality Control and Purchasing departments. Assists with and processes ECO requests approved by Engineering Manager, making technical changes on company/customer product designs. Reviews final design packages for accuracy, completeness and updates.

Assist Manufacturing Engineering and/or Manufacturing with any design problems that may arise on the production floor. Perform other duties as may be required by management. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Four-year degree in an Engineering discipline preferably Mechanical or Design.

Ability to calculate tolerances of parts to meet customer needs. Must be extremely detail oriented. Must have very good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical counterparts and all departments.

EXPERIENCE: Five to seven years experience in design engineering. Three to five years experience in Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD/Inventor certification. Working knowledge, Adobe Illustrator, Corel, Microsoft office software
