Research Associate/Research Engineer, Staff Position

Department of Plastic Surgery

Cleveland Clinic has a faculty position available for a well-qualified Research Associate with a special interest in device design and testing, research administration and grant writing.

The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in both our Departments of Plastics Surgery and Lerner Research Institute (LRI). The candidate must hold a PhD with track record and experience in writing grants. The applicant should have an interest in teaching students and fellows as we sponsor several accredited training programs. Approximately 80% of time will be spent in research, prototyping, testing, grant writing and 20% in lab administration.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Biomedical engineering, instrumentation, and systems engineering.
  • Collect requirements, review engineering specifications, and test plans.
  • Experience in prototyping and test of devices, CAD design, and basic programming skills in MATLAB and LabVIEW.
  • Integration of transducers to DAQs for signal acquisition, processing, and display.
  • Utilize development boards for signal acquisitions and recording.
  • Manage research labs, inventory, and biosafety compliance.
  • IACUC and animal study protocol development and documentation
  • Interface with multiple departments for the executing research activities
  • Strong medical device development experience
