Ametek, Inc. Job description: The Engineering Manager - New Product Development manages an embedded systems development team and is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of production quality mechanical, electrical and firmware designs. In addition, this manager is responsible for the hazardous location compliance, testing of and development of production test fixtures for new and existing products.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: Provides day to day prioritization and technical guidance to the engineering team. Builds a strong team with a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Drives and advocates for firmware best practices for design, coding, review/inspection, testing and configuration management.

Ensures manufacturability of products through cross-functional review, DFMEA, and Design for Manufacturing analysis. Collaborates with staff and peers to deliver development and test plans, including resourcing, prioritization, schedules, and budget. Identifies and drives towards improving organizational efficiency over time in the areas of deliverable quality, resource efficiency, design reuse, shift left development, etc.

Establishes and monitors employee performance goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, conducts annual performance appraisals. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: BS or MS in CS, CE, EE, ME or related engineering discipline.

5+ years of experience managing and leading new product embedded systems development teams Demonstrated ability to manage projects through the entire product life cycle from Architecture through Customer release and deployment. Embedded systems development and/or leadership experience in performance critical applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Good understanding and hands-on experience with developing low-level firmware and hardware abstraction. Experience in Agile development practices (eg: scrum) preferred. Demonstrated ability to partner across organizational and team boundaries to develop and execute cohesive product plans
